Many thanks, Andie, for another informative account of a new digital initiative. While I have used the Wellcome online catalog, I have never visited the library. In the past I was not able to determine how relevant or useful my search returns were to my project, and when faced with limited research time in London, these items assumed low priority. Yet, the attention to coding and, thus, the search capabilities of the digital archive that the Wellcome Library is building should enable a much more intimate understanding of their holdings from afar. Not only will this project open up the Library's holdings to many more scholars, but it should also encourage more in-person visits that will benefit from the archivist's expertise.
